Fall in Love
with Helen, Georgia
Welcome to the Mountains!
Arrive at Summit
Get settled in, unpack, and enjoy your home base! No need to rush into a big excursion after travel.
Relaxed startExplore Downtown Helen
Stroll past the colorful Alpine storefronts, browse a candy shop, peek at the Chattahoochee River, and snap those first vacation photos!!
For an easy family dinner, consider Bigg Daddy’s or another casual downtown spot. Check current menus and hours closer to travel.
Oktoberfest Fun!!
Pastries + Bavarian Charm
Start with breakfast at Hofer’s Bakery . Fresh pastries and a little European atmosphere? Yes, please!! Then enjoy a leisurely look around town.
A Round of Mini Golf
Helen has several mini-golf options. Pick a course that suits the kids and enjoy a little friendly competition before the evening festivities.
Optional budget-friendly add-onRest + Recharge
Head back to Summit for some downtime. Trust me, a little break now can make the evening much more enjoyable for everyone!
Helen Oktoberfest
German music, dancing, festive decorations, and delicious food! The Helen Chamber of Commerce is the best place to confirm the official 2027 Festhalle calendar, family admission, and opening time.
Treasure Hunting + Waterfalls!
Outpost Gold & Gems
Time to hunt for treasure!! Let the kids sift through mining material, uncover colorful stones, and take home their own little mountain souvenirs.
Allow roughly 60–90 minutes, depending on the package you choose. Shared mining buckets can be a great way to keep the cost down!
Easy Kid-Friendly Eats
Choose a relaxed pizza, burger, or sandwich stop in Helen. Bigg Daddy’s is one option to check, or pack sandwiches for a picnic and save that restaurant money for treats later!
Money-saving idea: picnic lunchAnna Ruby Falls
This is my waterfall pick for your family!! Two beautiful waterfalls meet at the end of a paved woodland trail. It’s about 0.8 mile round-trip , but there is an uphill climb, so wear comfortable shoes and take your time.
Allow around 1½–2 hours for the visit. Confirm admission and access before your trip.

Slow Down + Enjoy!
Head back to Summit, put your feet up, and enjoy a simple dinner. This is your vacation, after all!! There’s no prize for squeezing in one more attraction.
One Last Mountain Morning
Head Home!
Enjoy a slow breakfast if time allows, pick up a final pastry, and take one last family photo before hitting the road. Until next time, Helen!!
Make a Quick Stop
If checkout and the drive home allow, stroll beside the river or stop for a sweet treat. Otherwise, I’d keep departure day simple!
Want to Mix Things Up?
These are fun swaps if the kids have extra energy or you’d rather change the pace!
🎢 Georgia Mountain Coaster
A fun splurge for thrill-seeking families! Check current pricing and rider height/age rules before promising it to the little ones.
Find the coaster ↗🌲 Unicoi State Park
Beautiful lake scenery, nature walks, and picnic spots. Great for a slower afternoon outdoors. A vehicle parking fee generally applies.
Explore the park ↗💦 Dukes Creek Falls
Another gorgeous waterfall option, but the roughly 2.2-mile round-trip hike is more demanding. I’d save this one for older kids who enjoy hiking.

A Little Mountain Magic Awaits!
